Led By The Notable Trumpeter Composer And Producer Ichiro Nitta 新田 一郎 During 1979-1981 SPECTRUM Pioneered The Instrumental Sounds Of City Pop In Japan And Were Often Referred To As The Japanese Versions Of Bands Like Earth Wind & Fire As Well As Kool & The Gang. They Are Often Referred To As The Most Reputable Brass Rock Band From The Time.
Originally The Group Only Consisted Of Trumpet Players Ichiro Nitta Junichi Kanezaki And Saxophonist Tetsu Nakamura To Form Their “Horn Spectrum” Origin Of Band Name . After Nakamura Left The Group The Remaining Two Members Found Naoki Watanabi The Bassist From MMP Music Mates Players And Formed The New SPECTRUM With Other Members Like Saicho Itami From Rock’n Roll Circus And Shinya Aizaki From Beat Of Power. They Were Then Contracted By The Major Japanese Entertainment Company Victor Music Industry And Played Their Debut Single “Tomato Ippatsu” In The 80’s JAM OVER JAPAN Live Performance Event In Los Angeles. Shortly After They Released Their Debut Album SPECTRUM And Played In Various TV-Programs Like The 24-Hour “Loves Saves The Earth” Program. Their Second Single “IN THE SPACE” Received Several Criticisms Like “bad Earth Wind And Fire” But Still Gained Enough Success For The Band To Put Out Their Second Album “OPTICAL SUNRISE” And A Third Album “TIME BREAK”. The Band Also Had A Good Stage Presence With Their Flamboyant Costumes And Stunning Live Music. The Band’s 4th Single “SUNRISE” Was Used As An Admission Song For Professional Wrestler Stan Hanson And Gained Much Praise.
The Band Broke Up After Having Disputes And Confusion Over The 3rd And 4th Albums. After The Band Dissolved Some Members Went On To Join BLUFF Another Japanese Rock Band Formed In 2007.
