Artist Biography For Norchestra

Norchestra Is A Jazz/Classical Band From Norway. Norchestra Began Playing Together 1999 When The Members Met In The Music Department At The Skeisvang High School. At This Time When Composer And Multi-Instrumentalist Alf Wilhelm Lundberg Composed "Moon And Sun Clouds And Wind" The Concept Of Mixing Through-Composed Classical Composition With Fresh Energetic And Spontanious Improvisation Was Born. They Had Their Concert Debut In The End Of 2000 When They Played A 2-Hour Concert In Festiviteten Haugesund's Grand Concert Hall. In The Next Years They Continued To Have Concerts In Concert Halls On The West Coast Of Norway Close To The Town Of Their Origins Haugesund. After Many Concerts And Great Development As A Band And As Individual Musicians They Got An Offer To Be The Resident Band At The Local Jazzclub "To Glass". This Was A Great Opportunity For The Band To Play Many Gigs And Try To Develope A Unique Sound As A Group. Finally In April 2007 The Day After Their Debut-Concert In Oslo At Cosmopolite They Recorded Their Debut Album 21-22 Of April In Rainbow Studio With Jan Erik Kongshaug. Despite Having Only One And A Half Day To Record The Album The Recording Session Turned Out To Be Great Offering Them Record-Contracts With Several Jazzlabels In Norway. They Are Now Very Happy That They Signed With Karl Seglem's Label NorCD He Has Given Them A Great Start By Publishing And Doing Promo For Their Debut Cd "Norchestra" That Was Released The 1st Of February. And The Reviews Have All Been Astonishing Everyone Giving A Score With 5 Out Of 6 And Describing Them As "something Really Unique" And As A "remarkable Debut".
