New Rhodes Were Formed In Bristol In 2001. Less Than A Year After They Formed And While Still Only Teenagers They Played Two Nights At The Famous Glastonbury Festival On The Leftfield Stage And Were Soon Supporting The Likes Of Razorlight The Dears The Delays Hope Of The States The Killers The Gliteratti The Futureheads And Bloc Party. The Band's Strong Fan Base Throughout The UK And Beyond Includes Many Other Bands With Members Of Bloc Party The Futureheads And Keane As Well As Graham Coxon All Being Photographed Sporting New Rhodes Badges Or T Shirts. New Rhodes' Debut Single "I Wish I Was You" Released In July 2004 On Moshi Moshi Charted Comfortably In The Top 75 And Number 7 In The Indie Charts And Attracted Universal Praise. The Single Was Produced By Paul Epworth Who Has Recently Worked With Bloc Party Babyshambles And The Futureheads. Their Second Single "You've Given Me Something That I Can't Give Back" Was Released On Cd And Limited Vinyl Charted At 38. October 2006 Saw The Release Of Their Debut Album Songs From The Lodge On The Independent Label Salty Cat. They Were Also Voted By Vodafone Users As The Best Unsigned Live Act Of 2006 An Accolade Which Presumably Relies On Bands Not Be Signed To A Major Label. Often Compared To The Smiths Mainly Because Of James Williams Vocals The Only Other Really Accurate Similarity Is The Guitar-Driven Aspect Of The Music. Williams And Gascoigne Deliver Harder Riffs Than Johnny Marr Which May Be Why Many Other Fans Put Them In A Similar Bracket To Interpol.
