Artist Biography For Microguagua

At The End Of 2006 Francesco An Italian Guitarist And Coti An Argentinean Bass-Player Got Together And Started To Work On Songs Francesco Had Written Previously. Shortly Afterwards At The Start Of 2007 Luisao A Brazilian Drummer Joined The Project And After A Few Months Work In The Audition Studio The Trio Was Ready To Debut In Public. Partly For Artistic Reasons And Partly Because Of The Conditions Imposed By Barcelona Venues The First Concerts Are Acoustic Featuring Mini Drum-Kit Or Percussion Set Bass And Acoustic Guitar. In September 2007 Gaucho Arrived An Argentinean Lead Guitarist Bringing His Sound A Mixture Of Rock And Popular Music. That Year As Well As The "official" Concerts In Bars And Venues Microguagua Started Playing In The Street Something That Quickly Became Very Important Allowing The Band To Live From Their Music. 2008 Arrived A Key Year In The History Of The Band. An Average Of A Concert A Week Meant That The Band's Name Started To Spread Round Barcelona's Underground Scene And Made Their Sound Even More Roots And Reggae. There Was A Change On Drums As Luisao Returned To Brazil And Walter From Italy Took His Place Nelson From Portugal Joined On Keyboards And Finally Marta An Italian Percussionist Was Added To The Band. Microguagua Kept Working Hard On Their Sound And Their Gigs Which Was Proving A Difficult But Enriching Task Due To The Numerous Cultural And Musical Differences Of The Group's Members. The Concerts Which Came Out Of This Process Were Intense And Wild With A Special Connection To The Crowd Aspects Which Microguagua Consider Fundamental In Their Performances. These Efforts And The Experience Accumulated Playing Acoustic Sets In The Street Led To The September Release Of "Rootside" The Band's First Official Acoustic Album Replacing The Previous Demo Called "Barrio Santo Part One". This Album Was Conceived And Realized In A Very Direct Roots Style In Order To Give A True Image Of The Band Exactly As It Could Be Seen Performing In Acoustic Concerts And Every Day On The Streets Of Barcelona. This Disk Had An Incredible Public Reception And Is Played On The Radio And In Various Bars And Shops In Barcelona. 2008 Also Saw The Group's First Tour Of Galicia And The First Concerts In Catalonia Outside Of Barcelona. Finally This Year 2009 Arrived Full Of Changes And Novelties… Changes On Bass And Keyboard With Added Brass For The First Time The Group Left Spain To Tour Germany Playing Venues And Festivals. They Also Play In Support Of Natiruts A Very Well Known Brazilian Reggae Band. On Top Of This The Group Record Their Second Album "Barrio Santo" On The "Kasba Music" Label Their First Non-Acoustic Release With Guest Appearances By Leo From Che Sudaka Cico From Congo M.C From Aretuska Two Remixes One By Rude Hi-Fi And A Video. Microguagua's Full Discography Also Includes Songs On Two Compilations "Mariatchi Boogie" Produced By Manu Chao And Barcelona's Mariatchi Bar And "Espensahararaui" A CD In Solidarity With The People Of The Western Sahara Featuring More Than 23 Groups From Europe And Latin America Produced By Che Sudaka And Espai Jove Les Corts.
