Gabi Shoshan An Israeli Singer And Musician. He Was Born In 1950 In Casablanca Morocco And Immigrated To Israel In 1955
From An Early Age Shoshan Was Attracted To Pop Music And Especially To Cliff Richard And "The Shadows" Whose Film "The Young Ones" Influenced Him In Choosing The Musical Direction.In 1965 He Joined The Band "The Goldfingers" Along With Singer And Guitarist Nissim Seroussi. In 1968 Shoshan Moved To The Band "The Chocolate" Which Included Zvika Pick And Shuki Levy With Whom He Sang In The Soundtrack Of The Movie "Lupo" And In The Musical "Hair" In The Musical Shoshan Played Berger One Of The Plot's Protagonists .
In 1971 He Joined The Band "Apocalypse" Of Which He Was A Member Until Its Dissolution A Year After Leaving "Chocolate" Shoshan Starred In "Policeman Azoulay" And "Casablanca" Recorded The Songs "Silent Moment" And "I Do Not Know" As A Lead Singer And Participated In The Musical "I Am Nobody Knows". There He Met Kobi Oshret And Began Working With Him On His First Solo Album - "Black-Eyed Boy" Which Was Released In 1973. As A Result Of Shoshan's Dilemma Between Integrating Into Hebrew Music And Continuing To Focus On Pop Music Half Of The Album Was In Hebrew And Half In English. His Second Album "Songs We Loved" Was Entirely In Hebrew. It Included The Classics Written By Naomi Shemer "A Night At Achziv Beach" "Sometimes Stupid" And Original Songs Such As "Little Girl".
In 1975 He Traveled To The United States And Stayed There For About Ten Years Performing Before Jews In Songs From The Land Of Israel Playing In Movies And Commercials And Setting Up A Band Called "Zebra". At That Time He Was Addicted To Cocaine And Quit. About The Cocaine Era He Said "It Was Really Not Fun All This Time. Not The Cocaine Which Was Fun But The Money That Ran Out - That's What Was Not Fun In This Whole Story."
At The End Of 1984 He Returned To Israel And Since Then He Has Recorded Many Songs Such As "I Get Lost" "Only To You" "Periods" Which He Composed Himself "On The Pier" Written By Ehud Banai And More.
In 1988 He Starred In The Film "Tel Aviv Los Angeles" As "Sam Cohen".
In 1989 He Worked With Arkady Duchin On An Entire Album That Was Eventually Shelved And Only One Song Out Of It "He's Not Like Everyone Else" Came Out In 1990. At The Same Time He Continued To Perform In Singing Recording The Song "Go To Hell" And Starring In Movies And TV Shows. In 1993 He Recorded For The Play "Gabi Shoshan's Comeback" A Sequel To "Sixteen Years Old For A Boy" Called "The Return Of The Boy". N 1998 He Concluded 25 Years Of Activity As A Lead Singer On The Compilation Album "16 1" And Began Another Tour.
In 2001 He Participated In The Eurovision Song Contest With The Song "Wonderful World" And Finished In Last Place.
In 2003 Shoshan Sari And Uzi Fox Released A Joint Comeback Show Which Included Their Various Hits As Well As Innovations To The Hits Of Others. The Show Was A Great Success. This Year Shoshan Released A Double Collection At NMC In The "NMC Gold" Series. In 2005 He Released His Album "In The Dark And In The Light" Which Included Songs Like "Line 5" And More. In 2009 He Released A New Single For Radio "You Are My Brother" In Which He Sang With His Brother The Singer Danny Shoshan. In 2012 He Recorded The Song "Zichronot" Within The "Lanterns" Project Of The Musician Eliran Eviatar Levy. In 2015 He Raised Funds Through The Dastart Campaign Which Helped Him Release His Latest Album “A Place For Change ” Which Dealt With His Past Personal And Professional Changes And The Anxiety And Depression Attacks He Suffered From. At The Same Time He Returned To Perform With His Old Songs Among The Songs On The Album "White Night" And "Less Mila" Written And Composed By Sheila Farber "Being Romantic" Written By Yossi Gispen And Composed By Shmuel Elbaz "Into The Night" And "In Love" Written By Yossi Peretz And Composed And More.
On February 6 2016 He Willingly Ended His Own Life At His Home Aged 66 At The Time Of His Death.
He Is Buried In The Cemetery In Yehud Where His Parents Are Buried. read less
