Together テンテンコ Tentenko And 滝沢朋恵 Takizawa Tomoe Are Florida A Japanese Band Currently Based In Tokyo Which Was Founded In Sapporo 2006. The Two Members Met In Their All-Girls Middle School And They Soon Began Exploring The Underground Culture Of Sapporo Together. When They Entered High School They Began Attending Music Festivals And These Events Became The Inspiration For What Eventually Became Florida. In 2006 They Began Producing Cassettes At Home Which Consisted Primarily Of Lo-Fi Soundscapes And Field Recordings. These Cassettes Recorded Individually Would Be Taken To The Local Music Store "weird-Meddle Record" To Sell And It Was Through The Influence Of The Legendary Weird-Meddle That The Members Greatly Expanded Their Horizons In Music. From Around 2011 The Members Moved To Tokyo To Enrol In University First Was Tentenko Then Takizawa Followed After Taking A Gap Year. At This Time Takizawa Was Producing Lo-Fi Folk-Styled CD-Rs By Herself And Tentenko Explored Tokyo's Thriving Experimental Scene. Florida Was Put On Hold As The Pair Pursued Other Things In Addition To Her Solo Music Takizawa Became The Vocalist For The Extreme Noise Rock Group HALBACH And Tentenko Was Invited To Join 箱入り気分 Hakoiri Kibun As The Vocalist. Frustrated By The Pay-To-Play System Which Forces Small Bands To Pay For The Right To Perform In Venues Tentenko Chose To Pursue A Career As An Idol At Akihabara's DearStage Home Of Popular Idols Like でんぱ組.Inc In Order To Increase Hakoiri Kibun's Popularity. While Working As An Idol She Developed An Interest In Punk Idols BiS And Decided To Go To Their 2013 Auditions In Order To Be Able To Meet The Members Herself. However Tentenko Passed The Auditions With Flying Colours And Became A Member Of BiS From May Of That Year. In 2014 BiS Was Preparing For Their Disband And In April Of That Year Takizawa Tomoe Released Her First Studio Album "Watashi Kona Ni Natte". Takizawa Allowed Tentenko To Listen To The Demos Of The Work Throughout Its Production And Seeing The Finished Product Reach Store Shelves Made Tentenko Who Was Unable To See Takizawa Thanks To Her Schedule As A BiS Member Realise That A Florida Reunion Would Be Possible. After BiS Disbanded Florida Was Reunited And They Made Their First Live Appearance At Tentenko's Hand-Curated "Butagorilla" Event. They Contributed The Track "Mother Mouse IN THE KITCHEN" To A Cassette Compilation Of Indies Artists And Scheduled Occasional Live Performances. In 2015 Florida Released Their Debut Single "Migite Hidarite" For Record Store Day. Described As Sounding Like "a Japanese The Residents" And "a 21st Century キララとウララ Kilala And Ulala " The Single Shocked Listeners With Its B-Side Track An Endless Loop Of The Nursery Rhyme "Panda Usagi Koala" As Screamed Viscerally By The Two Members. "Migite Hidarite" Was Later Re-Recorded And Included On "FLORIDA" The Group's First Mini-Album Released In June That Year. To Celebrate The Release They Held A Week-Long Event At The Space Dike Venue Where They Improvised A Number Of New Songs And Performed Them All On The Last Day. read less
