Steve Somerset Comes From A Long Line Of Art College Kids Who Traded Paint Brushes For Electric Guitars. Playing With A Variety Of Local Bands In His Native Derbyshire Steve Moved To London To Work For Kevin Godley And Lol Crème At Their Medialab Production Company In The Mid-Eighties. Once There He Worked On Some Of The Most Iconic Videos Of The Time. The Shadow Kabinet Has Been A Showcase For Steve’s Song Writing Talent For The Past Six Years. After Recording Two Tracks On The Charity Album ‘The Wish List’ An Album Which Also Included Justin Hayward Of The Moody Blues Martin Newell And XTC He Released ‘Hark!’
The Album Was Met With Critical Acclaim And Caused Mark Hudson Of The Daily Telegraph To Write " Somerset! The Great Trash Alchemist The Man With The Rock ‘n’ Roll Gazetteer In His Pocket The Entire Youth Culture Roadmap In His Head Trailing Melody In His Wake Like A Faint Perfumed Mist... His Ragged Juvenile Lead Tones As Ineffably English As Country Lanes And The Sort Of Sunday Teas Nobody Eats Any More." In 2009 A New Shadow Kabinet Album ‘Smiling Worlds Apart’ Emerged From Steve’s Camden Town Music Laboratory. Featuring 19 Tracks This Album Confirmed His Position As One Of The Keepers Of The Flame Of Melodic Guitar Pop. Steve Is Currently Writing And Recording Tracks For A New Album Due For Release In 2010. Plus His Old Art Teacher Will Be Pleased To Know He Has Started Painting Again.
