Artist Biography For The Getaway People
The Getaway People Is An Alternative Pop/rock Band From Stavanger Norway That Mixed Various Styles Like Hip-Hop Lo-Fi Surf Rock And Blues To Create Their Own Special Style And Sound. They Formed In 1994 Releasing Their Self-Titled Debut Album The Getaway People In The US In 1998. This Was Followed By A Long US Tour That Influenced Their Second Album Turnpike Diaries Both Lyrically And Musically. The Band Split Up In 2002 Canceling Their Deal With Columbia Records. The Lead Singer Ottestad Has Since Released A Solo Album Ottestad Which Was Somewhat Successful In Norway.
