Artist Biography For Taiguara

Taiguara Chalar Da Silva 1945-1996 Was A Popular Brazilian He Was Actually Born In Uruguay Composer And Singer. He Quit Law School To Work With Music And Managed A Successful Career In The 60's And 70's Creating Some MPB Classics Such As "Teu Sonho Não Acabou" And "Geração 70". Taiguara Was One Of The Most Censored Composers In The History Of Brazilian Music He Had Around 100 Songs Prohibited By The Military Dictatorship . These Censorship Problems Lead Him To Self-Exile In England In 1973 Where He Recorded "Let The Children Hear The Music". This Album Was Also Prohibited In Brazil. He Returned To Brazil In 1975 And Recorded "Imyra Tayra Ipy - Taiguara" With Hermeto Pascoal And A Symphonic Orchestra Composed By 80 Musicians. But Again The Release Concert Was Cancelled And All The Copies Of The Disc Were Apprehended By The Dictatorship. After This Taiguara Left The Country Again And Traveled Through Africa And Europe For Many Years.
He Finally Returned To Brazil In The Mid 80's When The Military Government Was Over But He Never Achieved The Great Popularity Of The Past Years Again. Taiguara Died In February 16th 1996 Due To A Bladder Cancer.
