Rachel Garlin Is A Singer-Songwriter Whose Character-Filled Songs Tell The Stories She Has Collected In Her Life As A Teacher And Traveling Troubadour. Her Four Records Feature Songs Noted For Vivid Lyrical Imagery And Themes That Are "fresh And Often Unexpectedly Moving." C. Gerst East Bay Express A Bay Area Native Rachel Lived In New York While Touring Throughout The States And Traveling As Far As Sweden And Scotland With Her Music. Rachel Performs At Venues Such As The Bitter End In New York And The Freight And Salvage In Berkeley Where She Recorded A Live Album Several Years Ago. She Has Worked Closely With Musicians Such As Lisa Zeiler Rebecca Riots Julie Wolf Indigo Girls Ani Difranco Band And Jon Evans Tori Amos Band Among Others. Her Songs Have Aired On Click And Clack's Car Talk Amy Goodman's Democracy Now! And College And Community Radio Stations Throughout The Country. After Touring Cross-Country In A Bio-Diesel Van Rachel Wrote A Song Called "Alternative Fuel" That Was Selected For The Soundtrack Of Fuel An Audience Choice Winner At The Sundance Film Festival. Rachel's Songs Have Won Prizes In The New York Songwriter's Circle The Telluride Troubadour Contest The Newport Folk Festival Talent Search The Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Contest And The South Florida Folk Festival Song Contest. Currently Rachel Lives In San Francisco Where She Is Writing And Recording Songs For Her Fifth Album And Teaching Music To Kids.
