Artist Biography For Laura Lewis And The Tea Dance Orchestra
Laura Lewis And Her Amazing Tea Dance Orchestra Began As The Solo Project Of Laura Cameron-Lewis Who Also Plays Keyboards In Scottish Electro Group Swimmer One And Edinburgh Based Performance Artist And Actor. Trained As An Experimental Theatre Maker And Installation Artist She Began Writing Music After Making Theatre Soundscapes From Field Recordings. The Band Burst Onto The Performance Art Scene At The Legendary Edinburgh Nightclub And Art Cabaret SiLENCiO In January 2004. The Line Up Was Laura Lewis Susi Kinghorn And Nick Stewart. The Band Have Since Expanded To Include Collaborations From The Poets JL Williams And Jenny Lindsay Hip Hop Bassist Ben Seal Also Of Livesciences The Trip Hop Producer Adam Paul Melvin Aka Melvitronica And The Visual Artist Kirsty Whiten. A Wild Mix Of Acoustic Instruments Such As Harmoniums Crystal Glasses Filled With Wine Musical Saws Typewriters And A Gretsch Guitar Combines With A Heady Poetic Lyricism And A Visual Aesthetic Which Comes As Much From Whiten's Visuals As It Does From The Dark Theatricality Of The Lyrics.
