She Initially Found Inspiration For This Song From Feelings A Friend Had Shared With Her About A Relationship She Was In. She Had Been With A Guy For A Few Years And Knew Things Just Wouldn’t Work Out In The Long Run And Couldn’t Fathom The Thought Of Having To Start From Zero With Someone New. Jessica Thought It Felt Universal. She Thinks Almost Everyone Has Been In A Relationship Where Even If You Haven’t Lost Feelings Sometimes You Know The Relationship Needs To End But The Thought Of Starting Over Is Scary. When Jess Was Younger She Dated A Guy Who Was Toxic And Narcissistic In Every Way. When She Finally Had Enough Courage To Leave And Start Over He Tried Everything In His Power To Keep Me Trapped. Jessica Baio started writing this song over a year ago. It’s been a long time coming and she couldn’t be more excited that you all get to hear it now! She initially found inspiration for this song from feelings a friend had shared with her about a relationship she was in. She had been with a guy for a few years and knew things just wouldn’t work out in the long run and couldn’t fathom the thought of having to start from zero with someone new. Jessica thought it felt universal. She thinks almost everyone has been in a relationship, where even if you haven’t lost feelings, sometimes you know the relationship needs to end but the thought of starting over is scary. When Jess was younger, she dated a guy who was toxic and narcissistic in every way. When she finally had enough courage to leave and start over, he tried everything in his power to keep me trapped. So when she was writing this song, and deciding it would be a duet, she wanted the male’s perspective and response to be a beautiful example of what loving someone enough to let them go could look like.
