Artist Biography For Grupo Medusa

Grupo Medusa Was A Brazilian Instrumental Music Band That Played In The Early 1980s Whose Repertoire Was Based On The Fusion Between Jazz And Brazilian Genres And Rhythms Such As Samba Bossa Nova Baião And Others. It Gained Notoriety For Bringing Together Some Of The Best Musicians In The Brazilian Instrumental Scene Including Heraldo Do Monte Olmir Stocker And Amilson Godoy. The Group Was Formed In The Early 1980s By Amilson Godoy Piano Heraldo Do Monte Guitar Mandolin And Acoustic Guitar Cláudio Bertrami Bass And Chico Medori Drums And Percussion . It Was With This Line-Up That The Band Recorded Its First Album With The Same Name. The Recording Also Featured Theo Da Cuíca And Jorginho Cebion On Percussion. After The Release Of The Album They Performed Several Concerts Throughout Brazil And Also Played At The 3rd Jazz Festival In Paris In 1982. In Their Second Lineup Theo Da Cuíca Percussion And Olmir Stocker Who Replaced Heraldo Do Monte Joined The Band. It Was With Them That The Group Recorded Its Second Album Ferrovias In 1983 With The Special Participation Of Dominguinhos On Accordion.
