Artist Biography For Floyd Leblanc

Floyd LeBlanc 1912-1978 Was A U.S. Violinist In The Cajun Tradition. LeBlanc Was Born In Mermentau Louisiana USA On The 17th September 1912. He Was Born Into A Musical Family His Father Playing French Accordion And Violin And His Mother Playing Guitar And Singing. In 1948 He Met The Cajun Accordionist Iry LeJeune And Together They Travelled To Houston Texas Where They Recorded "Love Bridge Waltz" And "Evangeline Special" On The Opera Label With Virgil Bozeman's Oklahoma Tornadoes Supporting. The Success Of The Record Wasa Turning Point For Cajun Music Marking A Revival Of Interest And Of Sales. LeJeune Stayed In Houston With LeBlanc Performing And Enjoying The Popularity Of The Record But Returned To Louisiana After Six Months. He Died On The 15th May 1978 In Allen Louisiana.
