Artist Biography For Case Kennedy

Case Kennedy Is A Singer-Songwriter From Seattle WA. The Only Constant Theme In His Life Appears To Be Change. After His Mother Suffered A Stroke When Case Was 9 Years Old He Began A Whirlwind Tour Of Foster Homes And Relatives Never Really Laying Down Any Solid Roots At Any One Location. Drawn To Music At A Very Early Age As His Mom ALWAYS Had Music Playing With Such Influences Of The Singer-Songwriters Of The Late 60's And Early 70's Such As Carole King James Taylor Simon And Garfunkel Just To Name A Few. The True Songwriting Bug Was Planted By The Constant Rotation Of His Mothers Favorite Band Which Would Become His Favorite Band And Remain That Way Up Through Today....Speaking Of Course Of...THE BEATLES. After A Period Spent Not Adjusting To One Particular Foster Home Case Was Sent To Live With His Granparents In Denver CO. The Family Seeing Trouble In His Future Figured What He Needed Was Some Strict Parenting And The Fear Of God. The Family Lived Inside A Church His Grandparents Attended And Also Were Responsible For The Upkeep. As You Can Imagine The 10 Year Old And His Seventy-Something Grandparents Did Not Have A Lot In Common. Most Days Case Would Find Solitude In One Of The Many Sunday School Rooms Located Inside The Mammoth Sanctuary. It Wasn't The Rooms Themselves He Found Solace In But The Upright Pianos That Were Conveniently Located In Each And Every One Of Them. " My Bedroom Was Actually In The Basement Of The Church Itself....It Was The Electrical Room. It Has Been Cleaned Up A Little But It Was Still......A Closet. However Since It Was Separate From The Apartment My Grandparents Actually Lived In I Would Sneak Off Some Nights And Wonder Upstairs Into The Main Hall Of The Church Proper. The Church Was Gigantic With An Incredible High Pitched Ceiling The Upper Portions Of The Gable Ends Completely Covered In Stained Glass....Absolutely Beautiful. However In The Middle Of The Night With Only Moonlight Creeping In It Takes On An Extra Sense Of Beauty. It Was Almost An Eeriness. However I Will Never Forget The First Night Wondering Alone In The Dark Church And Making My Way Up To The Stage And Quietly Sliding Onto The Bench At The Concert Grand Piano And Carefully Playing Some Chords. Talk About RELIGION Or Feeling Close To God. That Was MY Church. That Was MY Religion. I Knew At That Very Moment What I Wanted To Do With The Rest Of My Life." Case Has Had Several Setbacks In His Slow Steady Climb Out Of The Memories Of A Not So Pleasant Childhood. Substances Have Found Their Way In And Out O His Life On Occasions Some Staying Longer Than Others. Often Finding Himself Uncomfortable Around People He Has Been Labeled A Bit Of A Recluse. He Has Managed However To Use That Time Wisely And Has Been Perfecting His Craft For Many Years Now. After Several Stints In Several Seattle Bands During The "GRUNGE" Years He Found Himself Constantly Noodling Around On The Acoustic Guitar. He Says That The Dynamics That Come With Being In A Band And The Songwriting Process That Goes Along With It Is What Lead Him To His Current Role As A Singer-Songwriter. To Me I Just Always Like To Keep The Song As Close To Its Organic Origins As Possible. However When You Start With A Basic Idea And When You Have A Band....And Band Mates That Eventually Add Their Own Spices To The Soup When All Is Said And Done......The Soup Tastes Different Then You Had Intended It. Not To Say That Is A Bad Thing Sometimes That Dynamic Can Really Be Magic And The Songs Can Take New Directions That Would Be Beyond Your Own Imagination....But It Is Still Different. So Wanting To Try And See How The Songs I Heard In My Head And How Close I Could Keep Them To That First Initial Spark Of An Idea Was Always My Goal.....So Here I Am." Currently He Working On What Would OFFICIALLY Be His Fist Full Length Album Due Out Sometime This Spring. He Does However Spend Many Days....And Nights In His Home Studio Working On Demos And Becoming Distracted Yet Again. However Most Of The Detours He Has Taken Have Turned Out Some Nice New Landscapes. He Has Been Compared To Several Of His Hometown Peers Such As Damian Jurado And Rocky Votolato Listing Them Both As Influences Along With David Grey Ryan Adams Pete Yorn And Of Course The Beatles. Notable Tracks...Cherry Colored Clay Butterfly Hollowed Out.

Streetlights Is A Song By Case Kennedy. Case Is A Singer-Songwriter From Seattle WA. The Song Was Written By Case Kennedy And Tim Elsbree Elsbree Has Long Been Case's Main Songwriting Partner And Is A Multi Talented Musician And Songwriter In His Own Right. The Two Have Been Friends Since They Met In 1987. They Were In The Seattle Based Band Looking Glass Zoo With Kennedy As Lead Vocalist And Elsbree On Bass Guitar. The Two Have Written Dozens Of Songs Together With Perhaps Their Finest Work Coming Just Two Years Ago In 2009. Streetlights Was Just One Of The Highlights Of This Last Writing Session Between The Duo. Among Other Gems Are The Songs "This Is Love" "Gentle" And "Vacant Apartment". Unfortunately The Two Have Had Difficulties Continuing Their Writing Relationship Due To Personal Differences And Conflicting Schedules. With Any Luck We Will See More Work From This Talented Pair Sometime In The Not To Distant Future. The Song Truly Shines With Kennedy Masterfully Painting An Image Of Restlessness And The Discomfort Of Modern Day Strife And Things Left Undone. In His Uncanny Ability To Conjure Up Images And Leave The Listener Thinking He Knows Just What He Is Talking About But At The End Of The Day You're Never Really Sure. He Is A Master Of Melancholy And This Song Is No Different But The Lyrics Show Kennedy To Be Getting Better At His Craft With Time. The Song's Lyrics It Began To Unwind
When We Walked Away From Eden Into Modern Life
And Now The Days Go By
Like An Endless Maze Of Photographs In Still Life. How Do We Survive If Everyday We're Burning In The Sunshine
And A Million Other Worries
Eating Out You're Insides And Hanging On You're Mind. Will You Pray I Make It Through The Next Disaster
Will You Send My Love At Through The Satellites
Because You Really Just Never Know
You Really Just Never Know Which Way The Road Will Go. A Dead End Turn
Underneath The Streetlights And You Never Learn
What Have We Become?
We Had Our Share Of Troubles Now We're On The Run
But You Never See The Bullets
Flying From The Gun. And It Comes On Like A Heart Attack
And You Close Your Eyes And You Paint It Black When You're Finally Finished With The Final Chapter
Will You Paint My Soul Across The Starry Skies
Cause You've Only One Life To Live
And Still Got So Much More To Give To Give. Some Things Are Better Left Off Alone
Better Left Off Alone Thats Right
In The Dark Of Night A Little Love And Our Lies. Then You Say Goodbye
