Good Enough by Alta Mira

Artist Biography For Alta Mira

Alta Mira Is A Four-Man Rock Band Based Out Of The Albany NY Area Consisting Of Tommy Krebs Drums Joe D. Michon-Huneau Vocals And Brothers Hunter Guitar And August Sagehorn Bass . Named After An Edgar Winter Group Song The Critically Acclaimed Band Began Their Journey In 2004 When A Mutual Friend Introduced Singer Joe D. To Tommy And The Brothers Sagehorn Who Were All Fresh Out Of High School And Studying Music At A Local Community College. “None Of Us Were Really Doing Anything Musically ” Says Tommy. “We Were All Just Wandering Around Looking For Something To Do And Someone To Play With.” After Hearing Each Other’s Music Joe Was Inducted Into The Group That Would Eventually Become Alta Mira. While Trying To Find Their Sound As A Foursome The Band Played Wherever They Could From Coffee Shops When They Were Under 21-Years-Old To Local Clubs And Even The Occasional Parking Lot Or Two. As Alta Mira Began To Gel Their Music Got Better And The Venues They Performed In Got Bigger. In 2006 They Really Began To Develop Their Distinct Style Opening For Such National Acts As The Felice Brothers The Join Lisa Germano And Steel Train. In 2007 The Band Released Their First Project The Fables And Fabrications EP With The Support Of Indian Ledge Records—an Albany-Based Record Label. The Music On The Five-Song EP Was Described By Chronogram Magazine As Well-Produced Songs That Often Recall A More Vociferous Verve Pipe. The EP Earned Alta Mira The Metroland’s “Best New Band” Award In Addition To Several Favorable Mentions In The Albany’s Times Union Schenectady’s Daily Gazette InYourSpeakers.Com And RadioExile.Com. Over The Span Of The Next Two Years The Band Came Together To Write A Variety Of Songs For Their Self-Titled Debut LP Which Naturally Cover A Myriad Of Topics And Moods. “The Second Time Around We Knew How To Better Use The Tools In The Studio And We Had A Much Clearer Idea Of What We Wanted To Do ” Says August. “We Also Took Songwriting More Seriously And We Were More In Depth We Added Harmonies And More Singing Live ” Added Tommy. Released In December Of Last Year Alta Mira Was Mixed By Grammy Award Winning Engineer Corin Nelson And Mastered By The World Renowned Bob Ludwig. After Listening To The Album It Is Clear That The Band Took Time Crafting Catchy Melodies Thought Provoking Lyrics And Intricate Production. Though There Are Four Creative Minds Behind The Project It Does Not Sound Like There Were Four Chefs In The Kitchen. “We All Have A Similar Idea Of What Quality Is And That Spans Across All Aspects Of Art And Media And That Helps Because We Can Determine What’s Good And What’s Not ” Says August. From The Well Rounded “Sinker/or” To The Guitar Heavy “Din Or Drone” The Band Manages To Give Each Other Space Musically While Still Pounding Out A Cohesive Effort. Joe D.’s Vocals Are Powerful Without Overshadowing The Music. The Sagehorn Brothers Bounce Off Of Each Other Well On Guitar And Bass While Tommy Always Comes Through On Drums With The Proper Timing. Alta Mira Is Currently Touring In Support Of Their Debut. The Band Has Also Already Started Recording Songs For Their Follow Up. With Six Years Of Hard Work And A True Love For Music Alta Mira Is Already One Of The Best Bands To Come Out Of The Northeast In Years And They Will Only Get Better With Time.
