Artist Biography For Alvvays

Alvvays Is A Grammy Nominated Dreampop Band Formed In Prince Edward Island Canada In 2011. Reverb-Drenched And Bittersweet Alvvays Members Molly Rankin And Kerri MacLellan Were Childhood Friends Who Began Playing Music With Alec O'Hanley While In High School. Lead Vocalist Molly Rankin Is The Daughter Of John Morris Rankin From The Popular Canadian Folk Family Group The Rankin Family. Molly Rankin Released A Solo EP Titled "She EP" In 2010 And Then In 2011 Formed Alvvays With MacLellan O'Hanley And New Members Brian Murphy And Phil MacIsaac. Following Tours With The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart And Peter Bjorn And John The Group Recorded A Full-Length Album Alvvays Which Was Released By Royal Mountain Records Canada Polyvinyl Records US And Transgressive Records Europe In July 2014. Chad VanGaalen John Agnello And Graham Walsh Of Holy Fuck All Contributed To The Album's Production. Simon Vozick-Levinson Writing In Rolling Stone Called The Eponymous Album An "indie-Pop Wonder". Alvvays Went To #1 On US College Charts On August 5 2014.

Antisocialites Is The Canadian Indie Pop Band Alvvays' Second Album Released On September 8 2017 Via Polyvinyl Royal Mountain Transgressive And Inertia. The Album Was Produced By John Congleton And Was Promoted With The Singles "In Undertow" "Dreams Tonite" And "Plimsoll Punks". According To Singer And Guitarist Molly Rankin The Album Was Recorded Using Pro Tools And A Tascam 488 8-Track Recorder. The Album Was Recorded In Multiple Studios Including Kingsize Soundlabs In Los Angeles California Tarbox Road Studios In Buffalo New York And Union Sound Studios In Toronto Canada. The Album's Artwork Was Done By Singer And Guitarist Molly Rankin. The Album Peaked At Number 82 On The US Billboard Top 200 Number 32 On Canadian Albums Chart Number 22 On Scottish Albums Chart Number 28 On UK Albums Chart Number 8 On New Zealand's Heartseekers Album Chart Number 9 On US Billboard's Top Alternative Albums Chart And Number 14 On US Billboard's Top Rock Albums Chart.
