Artist Biography For Josh Forner

Josh Forner Is A Folk/pop Songwriter From Melbourne Australia And Virginia USA. Forner Was Born In Melbourne On July 2 1988 And Spent The First 18 Months Of His Life There Before Moving With His Parents To The Town Of Reston In Virginia USA. At The Age Of 3 Forner And His Mother Returned To Melbourne Where He Has Stayed Ever Since. His First Musical Project Began Back In Late 2008 Under The Guise Of “Josh Murphy”. The First Incarnation Of The Was Called “Josh Murphy And The Squad Of Tyranny” And Featured Simon Moore On Lead Guitar Matthew Brown On Keys Bass And Guitar With Josh On The Vocals And Rhythm Guitar And Michal Scigocki On Drums. Matt Shipped Off To England Soon After Filming A Clip For Melbourne Rock ‘n’ Roll Act The Vaudevillains And Upon His Departure Simon Also Made Waves And Concentrated On His Studies In Science. Steve Martin Joined The Act On Lead Guitar In February 2009 After Meeting Josh Over Some Beers At The Simon Wright & The Eclective Residency At The Evelyn Hotel. The Two Talked Long-Winded Conversations About Music And It So Happened That Steve Was A Blues Guitarist And Up For Some Creative Expression. From The First Note They Played Together They Knew It Was The Start Of Something! Their First Show Came In April Of The Same Year As They Played A 2-Week Running Duo Gig At The Johnston As A Guitar Duo In The Front Lounge Section Alongside Deanna Wesson. From There The Gigs Flowed To Places Like Gertrude’s Brown Couch Wesley Anne The Edinburgh Castle The Central Club Hotel And Many More. A New Name Filthy Soup Came About In Winter 2009 As Josh Munched Away On Some Canned Minestrone As He Thought About Something That Would Describe The Vast Array Of Musical Styles That Made Up The Act. He Later Dropped The Josh Murphy Tag After Drummer Brad Cameron Joined. The Group Became Strictly A Guitar Duo In June 2010 And Eventually Josh And Steve Mutually Decided To Part Ways For The Time Being And Josh Was Left Fending For Himself In The Cut-And-Dry World Of Melbourne Music. He’s Since Distanced Himself From The Original Project And Concentrated On The Solo Performance Angle Deciding To Utilise His Real Name Josh Forner For His Performances Going Forward. Josh Has Regularly Performed At The Edinburgh Castle Including A 2012 Residency The Wesley Anne 303 And The Brunswick Hotel And Is A Regular At The Wesley Anne’s Open Mic Nights And Heavily Involved In The Melting Pot Music Community. He’s Played With Some Of Melbourne’s Stalwarts Including Timothy Cannon Bridget Pross Mr Brady Pro Rata Gabriel Lynch & Kyle Taylor And Has Contributed Two Of His Tracks To Non-Profit Compilation CDs In The Past. Josh’s Repertoire Continues To Grow. He Released His First Album A 10-Track LP Entitled ‘Leading To Nowhere’ At The Workers Club On May 28th 2013. Forner Has Since Returned To The Studio To Begin Work On A 5-Track Solo EP To Be Released Soon. Following That He Has Plans For Album Number Two In 2014-15. The Newer Material Shows A More Matured Political And Thought-Appealing Subject Matter With Greater Musical Intricacy Than That Found In The Debut Release.
