Stranger Is Yung Lean’s Third Official Studio Album Released On November 10th 2017 Via Lean’s Own Label Year0001. Many Of The Tracks Are Reminiscent Of Lean’s Side Project Jonatan Leandoer127. Along With The Usual Lean Lyricism There Are Many Themes Expressed In The Album Of Loss And Living Beyond Another’s Death Most Likely Referring To The Death Of His U.S. Manager Barron Machat In 2015. The Title Of The Project As Well As Many Of The Themes And Lyrics Presented Throughout The Album Are References To Supernatural Horror Novels And Gothic Literature. Yung Lean Specifically Mentions The Influence Of Works Such As Robert W. Chambers' The King In Yellow Yukio Mishima’s The Temple Of The Golden Pavillion Along With The Writings Of Roberto Bolaño Julio Cortázar And Edgar Allen Poe In This Interview With DAZED. Of Particular Influence Seems To Be The Chambers Series Of Short Stories The King In Yellow. In These Stories A Recurring Motif Appears Centering Around The Supernatural Effects Of A Fictional Play That Causes Madness When Read Also Titled The King In Yellow. One Of The Main Characters In This Fictitious Play Is Known As ‘The Stranger’ Famous For The Following Back-And-Forth With The Two Other Main Characters Camilla And Cassilda Camilla You Sir Should Unmask.
