Snow Patrol Is A Northern Irish–Scottish Rock Band Formed In 1994 In Dundee Scotland. They Consist Of Gary Lightbody Vocals Guitar Nathan Connolly Guitar Backing Vocals Paul Wilson Bass Guitar Backing Vocals Jonny Quinn Drums And Johnny McDaid Piano Guitar Backing Vocals . 6 Initially An Indie Rock Band Snow Patrol Rose To Prominence In The Early– Mid-2000s As Part Of The Post-Britpop Movement. The Band Were Founded At The University Of Dundee In 1994 By Lightbody Mark McClelland And Michael Morrison Of Shrug. After Briefly Using The Name Polarbear Releasing The EP Starfighter Pilot 1997 And Losing Morrison As A Member The Band Became Snow Patrol In 1997 And Added Quinn To Its Lineup. Their First Two Studio Albums Songs For Polarbears 1998 And When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up 2001 Released By The Independent Record Label Jeepster Records Were Commercially Unsuccessful. Connolly Joined Snow Patrol In 2002 And After Their Major-Label Debut Album Final Straw The Following Year With "Run" The Album's Biggest Hit The Band Rose To National Fame. Songs For Polarbears Is The Debut Album By The Indie Rock Group Snow Patrol Released On August 31 1998. All Lyrics Were Written By Gary Lightbody And All Music Composed By Gary Lightbody Mark McClelland And Jonny Quinn. The Album Title Is A Reference To The Band's Original Name "Polar Bear" Which Was Changed Early On To "Snow Patrol" Due To An American Band Also Named Polar Bear Who Took Exception. Part Of A Recorded Voice Message About This Can Be Heard At The Beginning Of The Song "Little Hide". The Album Failed To Chart And Did Not Sell Well Upon Its Initial Release. But Following The Success Of Final Straw It Eventually Went Gold In The UK.
